Contracts with a very well-known record labels
Contracts with a very well-known record labels

A few weeks ago I started a column in which the cover and decided to listen to you, along with newbies just starting their way in the RnB music. Not only did they release full releases, signing contracts with very well-known record labels. So even work these guys look very impressive, sometimes you think that a good generation is growing up with its disadvantages, but it is closer to RnB.

I have a strong feeling that does not leave me for a few months, this will be the year of electronic RnB. It seems that all surrendered, record labels began to compete who is steeper in the arsenal of electronics. The old men and seasoned artists began energetically promoting new blood taking a new milestone to RnB music. Army fans for a long time has passed for millions of people like this kind of music. As for me, I'm happy to watch the newcomers and I even really taste some of their compositions. But seriously, the level of electronic RnB noticeably grown, many artists have found a middle ground (look at Gallant, Anderson .Paak, dvsn et al.) And it is close to my favorite option. But let's all in order:

Ro James - accidentally stumbled on this actor, just flipping through the news, I noticed it the coolest cover for the debut record and this event made me listen to the singles. It turned out that the boy signed with RCA/Sony Records that in itself is a sign of quality. Number of tracks had accumulated as many as four of them, but before the album even a whole month, I can not say that I was amazed, but definitely a very good level. Musically everything is done well, there is a small niggle to obsession, which probably will not let me listen to it indefinitely. In general, singles will love fan of quality electronic RnB, but the most important thing is that the vocal man copes with its task, the party laid out quite interesting. And this will be the second actor August Alsina/Bryson Tiller, or will still be closer to the Gallant - we will know very soon, as soon as the record will be released.

Bernard Flowers - Another newcomer signed a contract with one of the most iconic record label (Epic Records), has provided us with their debut single. At this time the work is a little more fun than Ro, rather to say more positive work. Musically, everything has been done well, more pop sound sure someone will be on the hearing and will remember their corrosive chorus. I also still continue to observe the work of newcomers, including this character.

B. Smyth - Another representative of RCA/Sony Records, which can rightly be called a newcomer, because he has not released a single full-length album, while only singles spoiled. So it's time for me, together with you will get acquainted with the artist. Drew I certainly cherished phrase 'Maybach Music' - in fact it is a sign of quality and excellent arrangement. Even visiting the great and terrible Rick Ross merely adds points to this track. Musical works closer to the electro ballad in the style of RnB, is somewhat similar to recent work by Chris Brown. Let's see what comes next, what is the taste will be the first official release.

Overall, I am very pleased that 'war', which started the record labels, producers and young artists, because of all this win but we - the audience, who will be a new milestone in RnB music, which is likely to be better than the previous, because the actors almost groped the very golden mean.

VA - Contemporary Jazz Vol.37 (SOM Exclusive)
VA - Contemporary Jazz Vol.37 (SOM Exclusive)

Long time I did not spoil the readers a good jazz, the reasons for that a great many, but the most important of them is - difficult track selection of a certain quality. I'm getting more and more difficult to choose 8-9 songs that in my opinion, be able to express what I want to achieve spreading such collections. Today I did it and then the next week, all we secured a strong jazz.

Of course I try to expand their musical horizon, with a little more time to search for new artists, in order to diversify their collections. Unfortunately, it does not always work, so it is now a good jazz is difficult to find all that goes on the market usually is iterative. It is necessary to refer to the names that I have heard and known before. Therefore, a selection obtained a large collection, which are difficult to combine one main subject. Plus, my main source dried up a bit, so I can not boast of a disciplined collections periodicity, but I throw this thing in any case is not going to. Above it was a little explanation, let's turn directly to the music.

Over the past few months it has undergone several Jazz records, the artists with whom have long been deserved, but I do not add any one song in the collection today, as the material with these releases kept repeating that it was possible to repeat. This structure and composition, and the invited guests, and even if the tools are written in the same way, with the same tone. From which I conclude that the crisis of the genre come for a long time, he just dragged on longer than expected this audiophiles. Of course there are individuals that produce successful records, but do not dare call it jazz. Some words should be said about the instrumental jazz, I think he has exhausted almost all their resources, for the last month, I found myself thinking that looking for tracks with vocals, as virtually much, if not all, we have already heard. To what am I? The thing is that this style of how Jazz should not die in any case, even though my words, I really want to continue to do guys looking for new techniques, new sound solutions and experimenting not only with your friends.

Jazz Music should live, it makes our lives brighter and more expensive, you just listen to the composition Freddy Cole - Funny - unless you do not want to go at a time when such compositions were popular? Turn Dianne Reeves and James Day, is this not the most perfect combination of RnB/Jazz/Soul music? Try to ride on Moscow holidays (or your hometown) to the music of Eric Marienthal and Jeff Kashiwa, the road will play completely different colors, and you get a stunning charge of mood! And all the characters of one style, all that Jazz, which is appreciated by people so late, not respecting the time in which they lived, and who so quickly fading. More specifically it entered into a stage of stagnation from which it can only draw fresh blood.

Good old Elijah Bland

Quite by accident, I stumbled upon this character when I read the number of regalia, which he was awarded. What was my surprise when I finally realized he was talking about, good old E.Bland done a lot of noise in the middle of the 2000s.

Good old Elijah Bland
Good old Elijah Bland

For reference, E.Bland, he is Elijah Bland last great artist of Soul Underground, with a good sense of style and great vocal abilities. At the time, to get his records are in good quality have been a daunting task. In general, as you understand, I listened to this character in the past and was very happy to have him back, only this time one of the tracks he produced Gordon Chambers and I think we should come to expect gorgeous album.

Elijah Bland
Elijah Bland

As for the tracks, styles and music in general. It's all very sweet, Bland did a good job on the bugs, having worked on the sound quality and the manner of execution, as if listening to famous newcomer who collected his best stuff. If you want comparisons, it is Eric Benet, Ruben Studdard and other cool guys Soul of our time. In general this is an excellent singles and a good support for the future release and I am sure in advance (based on the works) that the record will be made to the top five!

As for the videos, since it's Underground, and is unlikely to in the near future will be Elijah famous artist, and the clips they take off in a special way and completely in a chaotic manner. It ranks as a simple, but very sincere and close to everyone. One can see that a man takes home, but very high-quality video, with a sense that never gets old. In general, the picture is perfect for musical accompaniment.

P.S. Recently out great surprises from lesser-known artists, such a trend can not but rejoice!

I am very pleased with the fact that hackers do not forget about the bonus version of the plates, releasing them almost on time. It remains to wait bonuses on one plate, which came out this year, I think very soon they will appear. And today we'll talk about more tracks from the latest album Musiq Soulchild.

When I wrote a review on the plate, I forgot to mention one interesting fact. Some time ago, or rather immediately after the last record output in the style of RnB/Soul, the actor said that at the time of leaving the music. He was looking for himself in painting (graffiti and rather different installations), trying to release a record in the other direction (if it was a Reggae album, which eventually came out). So what I mean? The fact is that the record fully reflects the internal state Musiq, it is lost and confused, he left himself, perhaps even in his crisis of the genre, so we get so weak album from one of the best actors of the last Soul.

And yes bonuses, they are just as strange as the plate itself, is nothing new and unusual you will not hear. Even the good old Soulchild you can not see, it's the tone of the basic version of the work, which can not fail to disappoint. Another portion of the compositions exclusively for fans.

Kevin Whalum - I Live For You (2016) (SOM Exclusive!)
Kevin Whalum - I Live For You (2016) (SOM Exclusive!)

Returning home after a hard day, and I could not imagine what awaits me today. The reason for that is absolutely unexpected release of a new album of one of the best Jazz artist of our time! Not only that, I am completely unaware of its output, in addition, it was full-time job, which deserves special attention. No doubt remained, it was necessary only to begin to listen, to share with you an overview of such a wonderful gift.

First, let's agree that who is Kevin Whalum, is the brother of one of the greatest jazz musicians of our time, Kirk Whalum, as far as I could understand before, brother always remained in the shadow of his brother, and in most cases engaged in musical component. There were in his repertoire some great plates, in which he wandered between the styles from RnB to the Jazz and on to the Soul. Now it's time to plunge into the Gospel, so we gradually move to what is this work. This Gospel project involved using neighboring styles (RnB/Soul/Jazz). To make it more clear, let's define that the Gospel can sound absolutely on any, all matter in the text and the information carried by artist/track/album. So yes, it is the Gospel, but what Gospel!

Musically this disc lies between the different actors of our time, of course I heard that work in a big way in the Underground inclined path, and there is nothing wrong with that. For Underground party is the best sound I've heard. The sound quality and harmony of the plate at a good level, there are no claims. And it would seem that something has to distinguish the record from the same Kem, just distinguishing feature is the vocals. I in no way want to offend Kem data, but these are two completely different cake each lusciously sweet on her. Kevin is so chic able to control his vocal music that goes by the wayside. But do not think that the music is played sparingly, musicality can be heard from every sound emissions Whalum, notes like pouring, thanks to good mastering.

I'm very sorry that these artists are lost on their home studio recording as wonderful plates, which are available only to a limited number of people - just because no one wants to invest in promotions such singers. Once again, I note how the actor is undervalued and I hope that he is still to come.

In your place, I would have listened to this work, in any case, in spite of the subjective attitude to any of the styles mentioned above. This is real music, which formed my soul, perhaps one of the best records of the year and I will include it in our annual top.

Music Soulchild - Life On The Earth (2016)
Music Soulchild - Life On The Earth (2016)

Just the other day, I pereslushival few records of the artist, it is those who have and have come to the conclusion that little of which later. Today we have to evaluate the new job from one of the finest Neo-Soul artists of our time. I deliberately did not listen to the album in advance exclusively for Pandora Radio, the album was released a week early to form an opinion with a clean slate.

If you have forgotten, I remind you, at the very beginning of the album promo, this actor has positioned it as a plate consisting of three styles. In turn, these styles had a great influence on the work of the artist as a whole. It was about the Hip-Hop, RnB (Neo-Soul) and Reggae and Musiq did not lie, he really wrote plate divided and at the same time combined together these three styles. I recall that the experiments with the last two in the style of the artists were, but in the Hip-Hop genre, we did not hear anything until today.

As for the musical part, the years that I have been following the work of Soulchild, I'm used to it the manner in which he performs his own compositions and used to his musicianship, which sometimes causes doubt in the presence of a sense of rhythm and tact in this artist. This music still corresponds to the main genre and sounds very high quality, the voice of the claims is also no what I expected, and it was. This work is an experiment, while it turned out as a success, and not entirely successful. Its success lies in the fact that this artist could very well all together, harmonious sounds, while the second is the background everywhere Neo-Soul soul that sets the pace of the entire compositions. The failure, in turn, is that this experiment did not come to my taste, I subconsciously knew, even at the stage of several singles that will be passing the plate for me.

And here we return to the first paragraph, in which I wrote about a pin that came into my head. The bottom line is that it seemed to me that this actor several times already reached its peak and above their hits will not jump, it's not even a record label, I think the point in the crisis Neo-Soul genre. has collected a lot of popularity in the 90s and early 00s, he was exhausted and would like to add something new. And here we have a vicious circle, like get a new drink, but the taste is not the same.

I would recommend this record especially fans of the actor, I think a few good tracks you will be able to find yourself. Then I would advise those who like Neo-Soul - who still believe that it is developing and moving forward, such works rarely come (in this style) and perfectly brighten up your collection.

P.S. Either Musiq is fluent in several vocal octaves, or deliberately not registered visitors, who will be able to recognize all?

Jaheim - Struggle Love (2016) (Bonus Tracks)

Bonus tracks is ejected, and I am happy to continue to talk about them, as long as it is one of the best albums of the year, I was particularly interested to hear two new tracks, in the appendage to the whole, there was a new video, I decided to add as well.

I basically had no doubt that the bonuses will be the logical continuation of the plate, after repeated listening, as the plates and bonus tracks, I realized that with great pleasure that this work will add to his collection. Sami tracks sound Is not the food cooler than 3-4 migratory tracks on the album, especially if you listen to the good acoustics, the sound is very cool, the feeling that you're sitting in a concert in the church.

As for the video, everything is done perfectly, the picture is smartly suited to the sound, and we again showed a small film about love, better, and can not be. Probably for these clips, movies future may even be a sequel, but for now we will enjoy a beautiful plate and a good clip.

I missed quite significant single

Quite by accident, I missed quite significant single, which was released recently. Correcting this mistake, I decided to post it separately, along with the already released video clip. Today we will speak about newly-group, which may in the future, will stand next to the TGT.

KlarKent - Oh My God (Ft. Derek Minor)
KlarKent - Oh My God (Ft. Derek Minor)

Anyone who is interested in RnB and goes beyond MTV needs to know the names that make up the group, boys are at a level in the Underground community, built their solo careers, and how many tracks they wrote for more well-known artists - just do not count.

Perhaps this is the first single, maybe it's just a song to the soundtrack for a famous TV show. In any case, I would have to think hard to release a full record, it will be very cool. When I first turned on the track, I realized that the guys approached the process with a full share of responsibility and to make the product better than the TGT. This is the Gospel I love sounds very cool and stylish. About voices will not say anything, everything is presented for every taste, you can listen to their solo performances. Now we will wait for information about the future release.

Today let's talk on the subject of new singles

Today let's talk on the subject of new singles who accumulated at me still in the middle of the week, there was simply no time to listen to them carefully and write a couple of lines. All four singles preceded future releases, some may be added to the waiting list, and which is already quite close.

Maxwell
Maxwell
Maxwell - For several years, the actor fed us breakfast, at the expense of the continuation of its trilogy Black Summers Night and now the time has come. We are the first single from the next album - 'Summers', which will be released on 1st of July. I've never been a fan of creativity of the artist, so it will be an excellent occasion to re-listen to the last album, maybe I can do something for yourself to hear. The composition according to my opinion is very laconic and stylish, very well with the artist and his style, it does not become a hit on the radio, but the fans will be happy to such innovations.

Ruben
Ruben
Ruben - I love the creativity of the artist and was very happy when I learned that preparing to release a new album. 'When Love Calls Me' - will be released on October 28, but in the meantime we have to evaluate the first single from the next album. Just heard that Studdard will not change themselves and release something soulovoe and easy. I did not like the single, due to too much immersion in old school Soul, as well as due to poor mastering, sound turned out to be very quiet.

Jason
Jason
Jason - I think I already wrote that the actor is preparing to release a new album, and even had some single. In principle, everything is clear, Derulo forges the iron is hot, except for RnB is irrelevant. All too monotonous, kitsch, and I would not even call this music music, electronic sketch, which will be popular exactly one summer season.

Slim
Slim
Slim - Despite the fact that while these tracks already played his own, somehow I hear of an artist in such arrangements. Easy, Electronic, Hip-Hop + RnB - that's what's very cool is combined with the vocals of the artist. Ahead of us is waiting for a new release, unfortunately the record is likely to be passing, as it invested too little money. And he turned in the best single of the last compositions.

Gallant - Ology (2016)
#Gallant #New #RnB #Electro #Soul

Gallant - Ology (2016)
Gallant - Ology (2016)

Prospective newcomers in the music world, quickly burn out, downright no time to enjoy the soft musical Olympus. This year promises more of such works, each of which will qualify for the title of the best. The biggest problem of 'musical fireflies', is that they are fast enough fresh idea, make it an entire concept, which is 10-15 songs from the plate. The only pity is that the ideas behind this usually does not cost anything, the actor is completely empty inside, so there is a coaching update 'fireflies'. One of these artists, today released its new album, let's understand how the LP is his musical destiny.

A little bit about the concept and the idea of which I wrote above. Gallant managed to do a very good job of combining together many of the best that is present in black music over the last years 20. Ology - and this word can be characterized by a plate entirely, is a musical science, or rather its different sides/parts that everything else set out in an entirely different form. And here just as their legitimate right to join Her Majesty The idea - thanks to which this record is considered at the hearing as a whole - 'space'.

Let us not be unfounded, and give a few facts about the music we hear. Is the composition - Talking To Myself and Bourbon, not remind us of the times of the music from the heyday of the following artists - The Dream, Jamie Foxx, Bobby Valentino. Tracks - Bone + Tissue and Open Up and Percogesic, is a kind of Jodeci/Donell Jones/Dru Hill, a 2016 model year with all its consequences, one has only to imagine that these artists released their debuts in our time. The last fact becomes a composition - Shoutgun and Episode and Miyazaki, which remind me of the iconic work of Soul/Neo-Soul artists - Anthony Hamilton, D'Angelo, Musiq Soulchild. Now close your eyes and listen to a few minutes of vocal Gallant - exactly should sound falsetto! This guy can afford to sing with minimal music, ringtones are still spinning in your head automatically. By joining together, we get an incredible musical cocktail, which is built on musical science and great love for the music of the artist, which in turn raises the plate to the rank of one of the most harmonious. His work Gallant asked level, this level can not be repeated, is stylistically similar to the second album is unlikely to cause such vivid emotions of the audience. Returning to the preamble - I express my hope that this novice enough talent/fuse/Music Education/imagination to continue to continue to surprise us, not moving away from its roots, that he felt fine.

I would suggest to consider this work especially to all fans of new music trends of fashion, you will be satisfied with the arrangements and beautiful electronic techniques used in each track. Then I would advise to try to listen to this work for those who like me, I am quite skeptical about the electronic RnB in general, perhaps your view (like mine) will change at the end of the plate. Well, the last category of students - those who follow the RnB in general, who are ready to make new discoveries and to easily perceive any musical substyles.

P.S. This year, recruited a good list of alternative releases, take at least Anderson.Paak and BJ The Chicago Kid, and now Gallant. Apparently this year will be full of such discoveries, which can not but rejoice, because diversity must be present!

Tank - Sex Love & Pain 2 (2016) (Bonus Tracks)

Long time hackers are not Rippowan bonus tracks, I hope that this situation will change, because the last time came out a few plates, which contained the Deluxe/Limited/Collector and other publications, which in turn were stuffed with additional tracks.

At this time, an additional portion of the compositions come from the Tank, with his latest release, which in my opinion was a failure, because the concept of the album I do not lay on the soul. Bonuses are a logical continuation of the plate, there were no surprises. I for myself have not discovered anything new, so by and large it is a job for the fans last record, you gladly add his collection of two additional compositions.

Overall, I am disappointed many plates facing in recent years, some works were expected bad, some, like this, came a lower level of the boldest assumptions. Apparently the genre continues to experience a crisis, which sooner or later must end, but probably not today.

Interesting videos - 1

This week, I was able to collect some interesting videos, I love when the video bears some meaning, it is interesting to look, well, in extreme cases, video has to be combined with the very track, and be at least qualitatively removed. Moreover, today we have presented a mini movie from one of the artists who got to the top of the best records of last year.

Interesting videos - 1
Interesting videos - 1
Gregory Porter - I loved this track and let Kem in this single almost did not fulfill anything, I chose this remix version, because it is closer to RnB. Ahead of us is expected to release the album, which is very interesting to me, as long as we enjoy my live/acoustic/video studio, pretty good for a suitable track. If you do not know how to come up with the plot, it is best to remove the video in a beautiful studio.

Kenny Lattimore - Not the best choice of songs for singles and videos, but the taste and color, for me it is an average track, but the video looks very good. The idea of the video looks just gorgeous, it is a pity that does not receive development, it would be possible to do another minute video with music and a continuation of the evening for two. In general, a worthy continuation of advertising the new album of the artist.

BJ - elegant idea of the video, the video came out very rich and interesting, except for the ending, I would like a good end, or bad, and here neither there nor here. In general, the video I liked it much more than the song itself, although I had high hopes for a duet with Kendrick, a track I did not lay down on the ear. Another worthy continuation poseledney advertising plate from the Chicago Kid.

Tyrese - This actor is still at the stage of pre-order record, said that is preparing to release a mini movie based on a video for the track Shame, and now this moment has arrived, the film was released in the 'rental'. The first thing that catches the eye is that Tyrese borrowed the idea from his serials R.Kelly/musical parts, at least in the course of the narrative - all very similar. Mini movie was very interesting and well shot, with a great story and a good drama, all of watch without fail, even if the latest album of the artist you do not like. Overall, I liked the concept, I would suggest that many artists to produce a film on the theme of releasing records, it would save a lot of money on unnecessary video viewer fueled interest in addition not only to record but also to video clips in general.
